The struggle is real. I'm not just saying that from my own personal experience but Buffer has done some research into this area and postulates that addiction to Social Media comes down to two chemicals: Dopamine and oxytocin.
Dopamine creates want in the brain and therefore, causes us to seek, desire and search. Our dopamine levels are stimulated by the very factors that we enjoy about social media- unpredictability, small bits of info and rewards.
Oxytocin, on the other hand, is a bit more romantic. This so-called "cuddle-chemical" is released when hugging or kissing and can also be released when using social for 10 minutes. WHOA.
