Instagram Stories now has 250 million active daily users

As the fight for drawing in engaged audiences using ephemeral Stories functionality on social continues to rage, Instagram has increased the gulf between Snapchat and Facebook with figures released this week suggesting that it boasts over 250m active daily users on Instagram Stories.

According to Instagram, at least 250 million users use the app’s vertical format every day, up from 200 million just two months ago. The latest count places the Facebook-owned app’s feature at nearly 100 million more per day than Snapchat, which reported 166 million daily users as of its first-quarter earnings results.

In looking to take advantage of the vast numbers of engaged users, a number of brands have begun deploying shoppable Instagram Stories in a bid to capitalize on this volume of usage, providing a platform to shop through e-commerce channels to users choosing to spend their time on the platform receiving a gentle nudge from brands they follow in the process.
