Twitter continues to battle for dominance of Live social content

Twitter is continuing to grow its Live streaming business. Twitter reached an agreement to livestream the inaugural Electronic Music Awards, the $7.4 billion industry’s largest awards show, with the livestream available to Twitter users globally via and @theemawards.

The news comes at a time when Twitter has been inking livestreaming pacts at a frenetic pace in sectors including news, sports, music and esports. Earlier this month the platform signed a deal with The All England Club to live stream Wimbledon, with coverage that includes daily news updates and interviews, behind the scenes footage, and “selected action” from the matches.

The move evidences how Twitter is looking to become the go-to platform for people looking to view with live content on social, covering an increasingly diverse number of interest to reclaim some of the engaged user base it has seen decline since 2015.
