Facebook now lets brands and media companies create groups within pages

Facebook is giving Pages administrators the ability to create their own groups, potentially providing brands and media companies new ways to boost engagement with niche groups; a feature the networking site has been testing in some markets for months.

The feature will let brands create their own pages without having to rely on admins to set up groups from their personal accounts. This is certainly welcome news to social media managers who want to have more privacy and seemingly gives brands the chance to create “official” groups that unwanted or unofficial third parties and fan clubs can’t set up.

This new functionality for official Page groups, including ways to help administrators manage their members while also analyzing real-time stats about engagement, illustrate how Facebook is continuing to increase the utility that the platform offers both brands and users –  creating bespoke and interest-based areas on the site for them.
