This week Facebook has looked to improve the utility of its Stories function to attract a larger number of users to engage with the feature. The social giant has removed Messanger Day and has instead merged the chat app’s stories feature with Facebook Stories.
Facebook’s second update to their Stories function that got underway this week allows users of Facebook Groups and Events to create and contribute to a Facebook Story that is visible to the rest of the members. These collaborative Stories will work like a private hashtag, so multiple people can add content but only those involved can see it.
The bigger play for Facebook in simplifying its Stories and giving posts more exposure across Facebook and Messenger apps – without manual cross-posting – is to boost usage of Facebook Stories and lock in those already active on the platform for a greater duration.
