Instagram this week rolled out a new feature for its Live video. Users can now request to join a live stream that they’re watching and, if accepted, can start broadcasting Live as a guest of the host.
To request to join the live broadcast, viewers can tap the ‘request’ button in the comments section, which hosts then see pop up in real-time, giving them the option to accept or deny.
They also have access to a list of pending requests, in case a bunch of different requests are coming through at the same time. The live guest feature was introduced by Instagram back in October, but this new addition of the request feature greatly expands the possibilities for collaboration.
