YouTube to increase utility of it’s in-app messaging by taking it to YouTube TV and Music

After rolling out in app-messaging on it’s IOS and Android app in August last year, YouTube are now looking to make this feature part of its broader offering – specifically on it’s TV and Music services, as well as its ‘Community’ tab for platform creators.

YouTube’s additional streaming services have previously been criticised for looking too similar to it’s direct competitions including Hulu Live TV, Playstation Vue, and Sling TV. By incorporating in-app messaging the sharing platform would be able to set itself apart from other services, but it would also enable it to create a platform that crosses mobile and desktop and loop in a far wider and engaged user base.

At the heart of this drive is YouTube’s ambition to reinforce its position as the largest online community of online video sharing – between audiences and users.
