Facebook is looking to plug a gap online left by LinkedIn in more than 40 countries by letting low-skilled workers find jobs on the platform, carving a greater role and niche in their worlds.
This week, as TechCrunch confirmed, “Businesses will be able to post job openings to a Jobs tab on their Page, Jobs dashboard, Facebook Marketplace, and the News Feed that they can promote with ads. Meanwhile, job seekers can discover openings, auto-fill applications with their Facebook profile information, edit and submit their application, and communicate via Messenger to schedule interviews”.
The bigger play for Facebook is in line with a strategy they set out of the year, looking to offer greater value to people actively engaging of the site. By allowing users across the world to turn their experience into job leads, Facebook is to looking encourage its users to spend more time searching and discovering on platform.
