Instagram has introduced a dedicated UK shopping channel

In a bid to capitalize on the surge of brands using the channel to generate product awareness, as well as bolt-ons such as Shopify which allow brands to sell directly on Instagram without customers having to leave the app, Instagram has this week launched a UK shopping channel.

The initiative, launched with test partners Marks & Spencer, Heidi Klein and Mahabis, allows brands to tag products in organic posts so they can be purchased directly from their respective e-commerce sites – directly from Instagram.

As The Drum confirm, “The arrival of Shopping on British shores follows a successful introduction of the service in America last year, sparking success for some including online retailer @Lulus which attributes 1,200 orders and 100,000 website visits to the service thus far”.
